I was asked by a friend how I would describe myself in a cake - would it be different designs on a cupcake, a carved cake or an tall wedding-ish type cake?
I thought long and hard about this one. I wanted to really portray my career and hobbies. Aside from running my custom cake business, I also spend half my time as a Personal Trainer. Fitness is also a big part of my life, I have done many marathons and triathlons (including 1 Ironman so far).
Here is what I came up with to describe my career and hobbies in a cake: Cake designer, blogger, personal trainer and cyclist. Everything is edible and handmade out of sugarpaste. The bosu ball is actually a very small cake. This cake also doubles as a handy business card holder too :-) Tell me, what would your cake look like?

Love this! Mine would have to be of course, cake, cookies, then dogs, and flower gardening. This would be a fun cake to make!
Your cakes are awesome!
wow this looks great! so look alike :)
My cake would look VERY similar to yours. Change it to blonde hair, a red cake and running shoes instead of bike tires, done and done! I am LOVING this cake idea. For my b-day maybe I can convince my husband to find me a cake that describes me...
This is awesome! I never really thought about what "my" cake would look like. Now that I think about it ... there would be a LOT of components: cake (of course), knitting, books, video gaming, cooking, typewriters, chips, coffee, cats ... to name just a few!
wou, super reusit
Your cake is awesome! It's great to get an insight into who you are! My cake, hmmm... Cupcakes, laptop, treadmill, whiteboard (as I'm a teacher) & piano! What a combination!
Junita amazing cake! Mine would have some knitting needles w/ yarn and some cake decorations on it as well. :D
Great way to display your hobbies and career in a cake!
Love this one! What a fun cake to make!

This is so cool! You are so creative to double it as a card holder too! I love this idea of your cake and of course your cake is awesome as always! :)
You know, i'm staring at my computer screen for 10mins and i still don't even know what my cake would look like..oh well..i'll have to think hard..in the mean time i think i better leave my comments first..lol!
I love it! Oh oh mines would have my family, cats, and a steel pan because my Trini roots, my favorite video game Metal Gear, combats boots, an apple because I'm a MAC! Sci/Fantasy books with dragons, fairies, gnomes, dwarfs, hobbit orcs, Ring Wraiths... oh and cook books, I love to cook, music from jazz to Heavy Metal long live Metallica! Tubes of paint and paint brushes, my first love is in painting & drawing and fine arts... come to think of it that would be one big honking display of a cake! Maybe I can do one for my 10 year anniversary next year.
You've already done my stunning "motorcycle cake" but I would add on books, Lucy, and flowers from my garden next time....next March maybe?
Thank you so much for stopping by to comment and sharing your own cake ideas. I hope you get the opportunity someday to make your own "life in cake" or someone makes one for you!
Julia - I was going to make running shoes, but it was about 2am and the bike tires were easier :-)
The Cakerator - That would be one awesome cake!
Rosemary Writes - Absolutely! And I would also add in a pen & paper for all your writing.
This is the most beautiful cake! You got me thinking, I do have to doo that one day, I cake just for me and about me!!
Have a great week.
How fun! I should really try and do something like this myself. At the moment, there would be some of my day job, chemistry, in there, lots of cycling, a little bit of gardening and lots of cake decorating!
If this is not the cutest thing. My cake would of course have baking/cooking articles on it, a sewing machine and fabric, arts and crafts, a camera, and music. It would also have some skull and crossbones for that rebel side of me.
Meravigliosa!!! :-)
Love that idea, I'll see if I can come up with some creation. Wish I had time for the personal fitness though. I am going to start a new gym regime next month, and increase the size of my fondant batches to 20lb!
This is so adorable!
I love this!!! Soooo cute- mine would have me standing over my counter, in one of my many fave aprons (the latest being the cupcake apron from SITC2) in my indoor running shoes, lululemons, standing on a gel matt and watching a movie- absolute favorite way to work...and most likely a glass of wine hidden off to the side :)
Thanks for the new comments!
RoxicakesJen - yes, I think most of us would have that hidden glass of wine :-) or double espresso on those late caking nights.
