2nd Birthday: Yellow Tractor Cake

This past weekend was my nephew Maseo's 2nd birthday.  Last year I made him a fun Heffalump Cake and this year it was a tractor cake.  He actually calls dump trucks, excavator and any yellow truck a tractor.
Everything is completely edible on the cake.  It was lemon butter cake with vanilla swiss meringue buttercream.
He loved the cake and really wanted to play with the tractor.  I think it was confusing for him whether it was a toy or a cake.  We let him remove the sugarpaste wheels before we cut it up...  he then pointed at it and said "Broken".

such a great job! it looks great!
I especially love the wheels! I am not good at all with wheels. I should improve my technique. I have a BMW this saturday for my friend's 3 year old son. I am going to try and make them better.

Great job! I love it when there is a story behind a cake. You really do make excellent wheels.

Hi Everyone - Thank you for stopping by and leaving comments.

giovanna - I usually make my wheels 1 week in advance so they harden up and I can make marks with them in the fondant on the cake board if I want.

This is so beautiful! It does not look like a cake, it was more of a toy. I better stare at it than eat it!
