Guest Post: Beth from Whimsical Wedding Cakes

Today's post is part of our bi-weekly Guest Post: 5 Pics Series. We feature multi-talented cake designers from all over the world that I have met online and also in person.

I met Beth Appleton last year at the cakelava class at Icing Inspirations in Kitchener.  Beth found her passion for cake design while planning her own wedding in 2002.  She found it difficult to find a designer with her sense of "whimsy" so she designed her own whimsical cake.

Since then, Beth taught herself the basics and took some classes with some amazing cake designers.  Beth is regularly featured online and in magazines like Wedding Bells, won the Cake Star challenge at Bonnie Gordon's Cake Show 2011 and was featured on the Canadian cake competition TV show Cake Walk.  I think you'll agree that her designs are just amazing!

1) So elegant and perfect
 2) Simple, clean and wintery
 3) Winning cake at The Cake Show 2011
 4) So Cute!
5) Whimsy and Happy!
Beth is located in Milton, Ontario and you can find her:

Happy Valentine's Day

A simple little heart shaped cake to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day.  Hope your day is filled with lots of sweet things.
My daughter, Sidney, sure loved playing with the cake like it was a drum.  She is still not old enough to taste cake yet as she is just over 7 months.
The cake was 4 layers of chocolate sour cream cake with vanilla bean buttercream - it was a nice treat!  Hope you enjoy a treat today!

40th Birthday Cake: Porsche Cake

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!  We've been having some warmer temperatures here in Toronto - it does not feel like winter at all.  In the peak afternoon - you really could drive a convertible, so I thought this cake would be appropriate.

It's a chocolate convertible porsche cake for a 40th birthday celebration with the personalized license plate of "OVERTHEHILL".
Have a great week!  I will be back here next week to feature another Guest Cake Designer's creations.

Superheroes Cake

Welcome 2012 and I hope everyone had a wonderful start.  I was out with some friends on New Years Eve and I was reminded of this very interesting fact.... In Back to the Future II, the future date they went to was 2015... that is only 3 years away!  Yikes - time sure flies!

And speaking of somethings that fly... a superhero cake with "cutish" characters made out of sugarpaste.  It was for a 25th birthday and I just loved how it turned out - so colorful and fun!
Have a great week - see you next Tuesday!
