80th Birthday Cake: Liquorice Allsorts Cake

A few weeks back, I posted this sneak peek on Twitter and everyone did guess correctly.  These were small stacked zesty lemon cakes decorated like the candy Liquorice Allsorts.  You either love the confection or hate it.

These cakes were for an 80th birthday.  I also made a collage of some personal things for the birthday boy based on some things his daughter told me.  She told me that he loved it and is saving the board.  How sweet!

  9. awesome!!

i try so hard to like licorice but admittedly it's my least favourite thing perhaps ever!! but i LOVE the look of licorice allsorts, they are so jazzy looking!

did you consider doing licorice flavoured cake and frosting?? that would be so weird. but possibly good for those who love licorice...? :)

  10. Thank you everyone for your comments. Looks like most people are in the "hate it" camp but everyone knows someone who "loves it"

@Lindsay Never thought of that... and not sure I want to :-)
