A 7th birthday cake for a girl who loves Gwen Stefani and her band
No Doubt. I designed this cake with No Doubt's
Rock Steady album cover in mind. Her birthday party was a dance party where they had a dance instructor and were learning all the Gwen Stefani moves. The birthday girl on top is handmade out of sugarpaste.
Here is a view from the top. I just love how red, black and red work so well together.
Here's what the cake looked like before it was iced in buttercream and covered in fondant. This cake was 8 layers of strawberry vanilla cake with strawberry buttercream.
That is so COOL! You are an artist! How did you get the white writing on the black fondant?
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
Awesome!

ReplyDeleteThis cake is amazing - love the painting...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I'm curious how you did the white writing as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone!
ReplyDeleteBrandy L, Jennyfer - The white writing is with white gel food coloring. Sometime I have to add some edible white dust to make it thicker. The brand I use is Spectrum.
Wow! Such a cool cake! Your handwriting is amazing! So uniform! And to think it is painted! I love seeing all the layers of the cake! How do you get all your layers so straight! I can never get them so straight..no matter how hard i try! I think i got crooked eyes..LOL!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Job!
