I love the idea of a peacock-inspired designs and use of the sharp colors. This wedding cake also had elevated tiers so I could add some extra gold ribbon to enhance the design.
This wedding was held at the Capitol Event Theatre but was a little dark while I was setting up, so the photos are not the best as I had to use my flash.
The cake was alternating layers of vanilla bean and strawberry vanilla cake with strawberry buttercream.
And here is the Instagram-ized photo. Am I following you on Instagram? Leave me your handle and I'll come find you!

2nd Birthday Cake: Elmo Cake
Elmo is so popular for 2 year olds! This was a very fun and colorful
cake design. Although, I must admit, the chevron design was very difficult -
but I was so happy with how it turned out!
The bottom tier of the cake was banana sour cream cake with cream cheese icing. The middle tier was strawberry vanilla cake with strawberry cream cheese icing. I even made matching triple chocolate brownies.
The inspiration for this party came from WH Hostess and Hostess with the Mostess Blog. Isn't it just fabulous?
And here's another close-up of Elmo! Have a great week!

3-tier Monster High Cake
Part of the process for designing cakes is doing research on the topic. Most of the time, I am familiar with the topic and can just google pictures to put the design together. For this birthday cake, I definitely knew nothing about Monster High.
They are very popular characters inspired by monsters and horror fiction. There are webisodes, books and dolls. There is just so much detail in each dolls character - I just love their bright, bold colors!
Usually I would make everything out of sugar, but the client provided me with the Draculaura doll to use in the cake topper. Her dress was made out of cake making this cake 3-tiers high - I loved the height!

Colorful 1st Birthday Cake
I love the color theme of this 3-tier cake for a little girls 1st birthday celebration. The cupcake is a carved cake also! My client gave me a photo of the design and gave me this fun color theme of bright avocado green and shades of pink.
Here is another view of the cake. All 3-tiers were strawberry vanilla cake with vanilla swiss meringue buttercream.

Pink Ombre Cake
Lately, all I see on Pinterest is the growing popularity of "Ombre" cakes. I don't even know how to pronounce it correctly - is the origin French or Spanish? Anyone know?
The only definition I could find is that "in fashion terms, it is a graduation of color". Either way, I had to try it out! In a similar design to this Bridal shower cake, I made this small cake which would be perfect for a baby shower, bridal shower or girls birthday.
Here is a view from the top. Have a great weekend and see you Tuesday!

Bridal Shower Cake with sugarpaste orchids
I love how this Bridal Shower cake turned out - soft and sweet! The bride-to-be wanted some orchids on the cake and said that I could do whatever I wanted. I couldn't wait - I just love orchids!
The cake was vanilla bean butter cake with zesty lemon swiss meringue buttercream.
I hadn't made sugarpaste orchids in a while so I took out my orchid book to select a photo for inspiration. I chose the Cymbidium Orchids with a hint of pink - I was very happy with how they turned out as I only had Cattleya orchid cutters so I had to improvise a little.
